The Florida Gators were picked to finish second in the SEC East, according to a vote from the media this week at SEC media days.

Georgia, not surprisingly, is a big favorite in the East. The Bulldogs received 233 first-place votes; UF received 21. Missouri was picked to finish third, followed by South Carolina, Tennessee, Kentucky and Vanderbilt.

Alabama is the favorite to win the West and the conference as a whole. LSU was No. 2 in the West, followed by Jimbo Fisher’s Aggies, Auburn, Mississippi State, Ole Miss and Arkansas.

The Crimson Tide had 203 votes to win the SEC overall. That’s ahead of Georgia (49) and LSU (three). Five other schools, including the Gators, had one vote to win the conference.

Two UF players made the preseason all-conference first team: defensive lineman Jabari Zuniga and defensive back C.J. Henderson. Second-team picks were running back Lamical Perine, linebacker David Reese, punter Tommy Townsend and all-purpose talent Kadarius Toney. Evan McPherson was the third-team kicker.
