PHILADELPHIA — Nick Foles will be back at quarterback for the Eagles on Sunday. Two weeks after sustaining a concussion, Foles will start for Michael Vick, who is out with a hamstring injury for the second time this season.
Coach Chip Kelly decided Wednesday, a day after watching Foles practice.
"I know he was cleared," he said. "But just because he was cleared, we (still) really needed to see him."
Vick, who missed two games, started last week's 15-7 loss to the Giants but re-injured the hamstring during the first half. Matt Barkley finished and will be the No. 2.
In five games (two starts), Foles has six touchdowns and no interceptions. But before the concussion against the Cowboys, he was 11-for-29 for 80 yards.
"I just did not play well," Foles said. "There's no reason. I just did not play well. It's going to make me better."
Ex-Raider: 'I was feeling like … I wanted to kill somebody'
Rolando McClain, the No. 8 pick in 2010, told espn.com he left the game because he couldn't deal with his anger. The Raiders released McClain in April after poor play and a string of arrests. He signed with the Ravens before quitting in May.
"I was feeling like Aaron Hernandez or something," McClain said. "Like I wanted to kill somebody." He added that seeing the former Patriots tight end being charged with first-degree murder scared him.
"Football was my mask. It was the cover-up," said McClain, who returned to Alabama to finish his degree in family financial planning and hopes to return to the NFL next season. "You got problems, go break something, work it out that way. I never really dealt with the problem."
Vikings QB: Vikings coach Leslie Frazier said he has a starting quarterback for Sunday in mind, Josh Freeman or Christian Ponder, but won't announce it until Friday. Freeman started and sustained a concussion Oct. 23. Ponder started Sunday.
AWOL Dolphin: Miami starting right tackle Jonathan Martin reportedly left to seek treatment for emotional issues. Fox Sports reported that on Monday teammates jokingly said they wouldn't sit with Martin at the team's cafeteria. He "flipped out, smashed a food tray on the ground, took off, and they haven't seen him since." The Miami Herald said Martin is spending time with his family. Martin is doubtful for tonight against the Bengals with an "illness." The team did not disclose details.
Redskins name: Characterizing a meeting with the NFL about the use of the Redskins name as disappointing, the Oneida Indian Nation requested a meeting with all 32 owners during Super Bowl week. Said Oneida rep Ray Halbritter: "It became somewhat evident they were defending the continued use of the name." The league did not comment on the request.
Bills: Quarterback Thad Lewis, who has started the past three games, missed practice with sore ribs and is "50-50" for Sunday. Jeff Tuel, an undrafted rookie, and Matt Flynn, signed Oct. 14, split reps. EJ Manuel remains out with a knee injury.
Patriots: Tight end Rob Gronkowski was limited at practice by a hamstring injury but is expected to play Sunday.
Rams: Starting guard Harvey Dahl will miss at least a few weeks with an MCL injury to his left knee. A specific timetable has not been determined.
Texans: Running back Arian Foster missed practice with a sore hamstring. His status will be determined later this week.
