Momentum-changer

. The Bucs were still in the game, trailing 7-0 in the first quarter, when their fortunes took a sharp turn for the worse. With 4:08 left, Byron Leftwich dropped back to pass on first down from his 41. He had tight end Kellen Winslow in his sights but was hit as he released the ball, causing it to take a low trajectory. It went straight to cornerback Terrell Thomas, who dropped to his knees and cradled the interception at his 31 — setting the stage for his team's second scoring drive. "(Cornerback) Corey Webster told me on the play before that I was going to get one," Thomas said. "So I just had to make sure I caught it first. I wanted to run with it, but an interception's an interception. I'll take it any way I can get it." "I really do believe I had Kellen," Leftwich said. "I've got to do a better job of sensing (the pressure). I never felt the guy. … Kellen had a chance to really get behind those guys."

Bradshaw busts a big one

. The Giants' one-two rushing punch of bruising Brandon Jacobs and fleet Ahmad Bradshaw almost ran at will. But one play in particular set the crushing tone. On the possession after Byron Leftwich's interception, Bradshaw replaced Jacobs on third and 1 from the Bucs 47 and busted into the open on the right side of the line. He eluded tackles by Will Allen and Chris Hovan and raced 38 yards to the 9 — setting up Eli Manning's 4-yard touchdown pass to Steve Smith three plays later for a 14-0 lead. "It was a misdirection play, and they shut it off to the side it was supposed to go," Bradshaw said. "Our wide receiver (Mario Manningham) kept the defensive back occupied, and I was able to squeeze up between him and the defensive end and then just hit it with my speed. I'm just a complement to B.J.'s running style. He's a hard-nosed runner, and I'm a cut-back, speedy guy."

Boss takes charge

. The Giants rushed for 226 yards but had their moments in the passing attack as well — most notably a third-quarter hookup between Eli Manning and tight end Kevin Boss. Leading 14-0, Manning took a shotgun snap on first and 15 from the Bucs 36. Boss broke down the left side, jumped and snagged the pass despite having linebacker Quincy Black in his face for a 24-yard gain. That helped set up Lawrence Tynes' 26-yard field goal that made it 17-0 and, essentially, sealed the game. "Eli just put it up there somewhere where I could get it," Boss said. "(Black) was kind of face-guarding me, but I kind of knew the ball was coming (my way) when I saw the coverage."
