Browns QB Manziel admitted to rehab facility

CLEVELAND — Johnny Manziel has sought help to change his off-field lifestyle.

Following a rough rookie season in the NFL, Manziel has entered a treatment program for unspecified reasons, an adviser for the Browns quarterback said in a statement released by the team on Monday.

"Johnny knows there are areas he needs to improve on to help him be a better family member, friend and teammate, so he decided to take this step in his life during the offseason," Manziel adviser Brad Beckworth said. Beckworth said the former Heisman Trophy winner entered the unnamed facility last week.

Beckworth's statement did not indicate reasons for Manziel, 22, needing treatment. But Manziel's penchant for partying followed him from Texas A&M, where he won the Heisman as a freshman, into the pros, and his nightlife has been well-chronicled by both social and mainstream media.

Browns general manager Ray Farmer said in a statement that the team fully supports Manziel and respects his initiative in entering treatment.

Manziel often dismissed criticism about his behavior, but after the season he seemed embarrassed by some of his choices and vowed to change his ways.

Quinn deal official: The Falcons, as expected, named Seattle defensive coordinator Dan Quinn as coach and said he will be introduced today. Quinn replaces Mike Smith, who was fired following a 6-10 finish in 2014. AP reported that Quinn agreed to a five-year contract.

Ravens' Cody indicted: Defensive tackle Terrence Cody was indicted on animal cruelty charges, some of which stem from the death of his dog and possession of an alligator, according to prosecutors and online court records. Cody, 26, was indicted on two counts of aggravated animal cruelty; 10 counts of animal cruelty; and one count each of possession of an alligator, possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of marijuana. The Ravens also announced that they released Cody.

Colts: The team signed Duron Carter, the CFL receiver and son of Hall of Famer Cris Carter.
