Bucs at Raiders: Scouting report

The Bucs' ball security and efficient offense during the past three weeks give them a chance to win any game. The Raiders are better on defense than most realize. But their opponent quarterback rating is 95.3, 26th in the league. That should tell you something.

Raiders' top offensive player

Darren McFadden, right, isn't having his best season. But he might have jump-started things with his 114 rushing yards a week ago against the Chiefs. He's a home run threat who already has a 64-yard touchdown run.

Raiders' top defensive player

Tackle Tommy Kelly, left, doesn't have a sack. But don't get caught up in that number. He has a combined 141/2 over the past two seasons, impressive for an interior rusher. With the Bucs' offensive line injuries, that's a problem.

The Bucs must avoid …

A slow start on the road is always detrimental. And many good teams have gone to Oakland and come away losers in recent seasons. The Bucs have done a good job starting fast this season, a key for a venue at which they've never won.

What the Raiders do best

Throw the ball, their 264 passing yards per game 10th in the NFL. Carson Palmer has thrown for 300-plus yards twice, 297 once and 298 once. His season high of 373 came against the Dolphins on Sept. 16.

How you beat the Raiders

Keep their front seven at bay with manageable down-and-distance situations. The Bucs have done well over their past three games getting yards on first and second down. That makes them unpredictable on third down.
