Tampa Bay Buccaneers wide receiver Mike Evans (13), center, is among the tallest members of the team, including free agent wide receivers Solomon Patton (86), left, and Aaron Burks (19) at rookie mini-camp on Saturday, May 17, 2014.

Bucs rookie Mike Evans was a guest on Jim Rome's popular and nationally syndicated radio show Tuesday afternoon, but he made headlines for the wrong reasons.

His four-minute appearance — marked by unenthusiastic, even one-word answers — was widely ripped by Rome's listeners, then the 49-year-old host, who criticized the 20-year-old receiver out of Texas A&M on air: "Don't make Bill Belichick look like Charles Barkley."

Deadspin.com has the audio from the interview on its site, as well as some of Rome's reaction afterward. In fairness, Evans had just finished practice an hour earlier, tweaking a hamstring during the workout.
