Mankins likely out today for Bucs

TAMPA — In a move that suggests Logan Mankins will miss today's game against Jacksonville with a groin injury, the Bucs tweaked their offensive line depth, waiving guard Matt Masifilo and promoting tackle Reid Fragel from the practice squad.

The Bucs had worked backup tackle Kevin Pamphile at left guard after Mankins' injury, but if he starts there, they would have no backup tackles on the active roster. Fragel would be the backup tackle if Pamphile played left guard; if he were to play, it would be his NFL debut. He was on the active roster briefly last week but was cut before the game.

Pamphile has started two games at right tackle and has played this season as a sixth lineman; the Bucs are choosing to start him out of position rather than Masifilo or backup Jeremiah Warren, both of whom have only played special teams in their NFL careers.

Mankins has the third-longest active consecutive-games streak (40) on the Bucs, topped only by receiver Vincent Jackson (72) and defensive tackle Tony McDaniel (42).

ONE-SEASON WONDER: The Jets and Giants won't face each other for another two months, but Jets cornerback Antonio Cromartie's comments about Giants receiver Odell Beckham surely won't be forgotten by then. "Right now he's a one-year wonder," Cromartie said Friday on ESPN. "I'm just being honest." Beckham, 22, has 24 receptions for 307 yards and two TDs this season. But the second-year receiver will forever be known for his one-handed TD grab against the Cowboys last year. "I need to see it on an every-game basis … not him getting penalties or something like that or sucker-punching somebody," Cromartie added, referring to Beckham throwing a punch last Sunday at Bills safety Duke Williams during the Giants' 24-10 win in Buffalo. Beckham wasn't flagged on the play, but the NFL fined him $8,681. "I think it's all about how you carry yourself throughout your whole entire career."

PACKERS: Receiver Davante Adams (ankle) and safety Morgan Burnett (calf) were downgraded to doubtful.

STEELERS: Linebacker Ryan Shazier's injured right shoulder will force him to miss a third straight game.
