NFL gets reports of Bucs-Steelers game shown on TV in Tampa Bay area in violation of blackout rules

Did locals violate blackout rule?

. The NFL said it has received reports that several bars/restaurants in the bay area showed Sunday's game on television even though it was supposed to be blacked out within a 75-mile radius of Raymond James Stadium. It's believed the establishments showed the game by picking up feeds off the Internet. The blackout rules, according to the NFL, apply to businesses as well as residences. In an e-mail to the St. Petersburg Times late Sunday night, NFL spokesman Dan Masonson wrote, "We protect our copyrighted game telecasts. The local blackout applies to these commercial establishments. When we become aware of a violation, we alert our legal department, which will take action."
