Jameis Winston held solid on the list of rookie quarterbacks since 1980, but still ranks two spots behind Marcus Mariota, who slipped to fourth on the list.

When the Bucs drafted Winston first overall and the Titans took Mariota No. 2 the Tampa Bay Times built a database of first-round quarterbacks since 1980. Each week we plug in the stats and compare Winston and Mariota against the others at the same point in their rookie seasons.

Winston's quarterback rating of 85.3 ranks between Matt Ryan (88.4) and Jim Kelly (83). Mariota is at 93.1. Robert Griffin III tops the list at 104.6. He slipped behind Dan Marino this week.

The Tampa Bay Times created a database of all quarterbacks picked in the first round of the NFL draft since 1980. Each week, we compare Jameis Winston and Marcus Mariota's cumulative performance against the others at the same point in their rookie seasons. As of midseason, we incorporated a screen to assure that a quarterback has attempted a minimum of 50 passes to be included. You can compare quarterbacks by clicking on their names, which will highlight their performance in the graph. Also, if you hover over a line in the graph, it will identify the quarterback.
