Tom Kaleita a veteran presence for Tampa Bay Storm

TAMPA — Rarely are 28-year-olds considered elder statesmen. But in the case of Tom Kaleita, most of his Storm teammates think he should be getting a letter from AARP any day now.

"I get 'old man' once in awhile," Kaleita said.

Tampa Bay Storm falls to Cleveland 53-34

CLEVELAND — Cleveland quarterback John Dutton was 22-of-41 for 254 yards and five touchdowns to lead the host Gladiators to a 53-34 win over the Storm.

With the Storm (5-5) trailing 33-13 in the third quarter, former USF quarterback Matt Grothe replaced starter Stephen Wasil. Grothe threw an interception on his first series but then led the Storm to two touchdowns bring it within in 39-27.

Tampa Bay Storm's Mark Jones settles in at different position

TAMPA — Mark Jones met current Storm president Derrick Brooks when the two played for the Buccaneers. The pair remained friends, even after Jones moved on to several other NFL stops.

Now, Brooks is Jones' boss.

"It's funny how it all worked out," Jones said.

Tampa Bay Storm beats Cleveland Gladiators 69-48

TAMPA — No Prechae Rodriguez, no problem for the Storm.

Rodriguez, a Jefferson High graduate and the Arena Football League's leading receiver with 43 catches, was inactive for Friday's game against Cleveland with concussion-like symptoms from a hit he sustained a week earlier at New Orleans.
