Tampa Bay Storm falls to San Antonio

SAN ANTONIO, Texas — The Storm squandered an opportunity to lock up its first Arena Football playoff berth since 2010, suffering a 68-42 loss to San Antonio on Saturday night.

Tampa Bay has lost five in a row.

A Storm victory combined with New Orleans' (5-11) loss to Arizona would have put Tampa Bay (7-9) in the postseason behind South Division winner Jacksonville. Orlando (6-10) is also in contention with two games to play.

With his 8-yard touchdown catch in the second quarter, receiver Joe Hills broke the Storm record for touchdown catches in a season (37 in 2010 by Tampa Bay Tech grad Tyrone Simmons). Hills tied the mark with a 17-yarder in the first quarter and added a 16-yarder in the third quarter.

Tampa Bay's Randy Hippeard was 17-for-33 for 246 yards passing with four touchdowns but he threw three interceptions.
