TAMPA — C.J. Bennett and his Alonso teammates got their season off to a positive start Friday night, getting little resistance from outmanned Brandon.
Bennett threw for three touchdowns and ran for another as the Ravens smashed the Eagles 39-7.
Brandon committed 135 yards worth of penalties, had three fumbles and managed only four first downs, the first one in the third quarter.
Bennett completed 14 of 30 passes for 232 yards and ran for 71 yards.
"Overall we played pretty good," Alonso coach Mike Heldt said. "C.J. did some good things, although he had a few drops (dropped passes) early. But as a team we played well, and we'll keep working at it."
The Eagles got on the board when quarterback Alan Knipple found Sean Watson for an 83-yard touchdown pass.
