Around the county in 30 days A daily spring preview of every football program in the county. Berkeley Prep Coach: Dominick Ciao (second season at Berkeley Prep, 19th overall, 137-65) Last season: 5-5 (0-3 in district) District: Class 2B-6 (Cardinal Mooney, Clearwater Central Catholic, Frostproof) Key losses: QB Archie Barnes, OL/DL Alex Matzkin, WR Nick Myers, OL/DL Shea Hughes, RB/SS Nathan Greaves Who's back: MLB Keith Bexley, WR/CB Jordan Crockett, RB/CB Julian Crockett, OL/DL Turner Richardson, WR Nick Orobello, OL/DL Greg Michaelos What's new: All five seniors from last year's team were impact players, including playmaking quarterback Archie Barnes. This season's quarterback competition is up in the air between two or three players — Ciao is mum on the names — but that will be something to watch during the spring game. After deciding on Barnes' successor, Ciao can head into preseason outlining an offense that fits best. Audibles: "Every spring it's been important as a football team to block and tackle, so this spring we're going to be concentrating on doing those things right. We're going to expect some great leadership from our seniors." — Ciao Did you know? Ciao has surrounded himself with assistants who were players for him at Jesuit, including former Tigers kicker Garrett Rivas, the all-time scoring leader at Michigan and one of just two Wolverines players to have three 90-point seasons.
