Around the

county in 30 days

A daily spring preview of every football program in Hillsborough County.

Chamberlain

Coach: Billy Turner (30th season at Chamberlain, 193-122)

Last season: 9-4 (reached third round of 5A playoffs)

District: Class 5A-6 (Alonso, King, Sickles)

Key losses: DB Justin Bell; WR Francisco Llanos; DB Deven Persaud; WR Fred Sykes.

Who's back: RB Kenny Allen, Sr.; QB Dontae Aycock, Sr.; DL Eric Hammond, Jr.; OL Justin McDowell, Sr.; PK Austin Pullaro, Sr.; DL Dontavious Pyron, Sr.; RB Lamond Scott, Sr.

What's new: Experience and confidence. One key will be the growth of the offense, which was a bit inconsistent last fall. Aycock, one of the area's top recruits, has a season under his belt running the team's triple option/spread attack — not to mention a number of solid skills players. One of them is receiver Anthony Williams. Defensively, Hammond and Pyron anchor a defensive front that could rival any in Florida.

Audible: "A team has to have chemistry. We don't know what that is yet. We're very talented, but that doesn't win games. That doesn't make you a good team. Right now, we're trying to mesh them all together." — Turner.

Did you know?: Under Turner, the Chiefs have been to the playoffs 15 times and nine straight seasons.
