A daily spring preview of every football team in the county.
Dunedin
Coach: Mark Everett (48-49, 10th season)
Last season: 7-5 (lost 31-0 to Largo in region semifinals)
District: 5A-9 (Clearwater, Countryside, East Lake, Palm Harbor University)
Key losses: QB A'Darrius Anderson, RB/WR Robert Flagg, LB Mike Kumbat, WR/DB Mike Towns
Who's back: RB Darius Bellamy, right, LB Ali Cheaib, RB Kim Howard, LB Brian Morris
What's new: The Falcons will count a lot on Bellamy, the county's top returning rusher from last season with a school-record 1,900 yards. Howard, a transfer from Largo who sat out last season because of grades, should be eligible by the fall, according to Everett. Both will run behind a line that returns four of its top six counting the tight end. Blair Jordan, the junior varsity quarterback, takes over for Anderson. Dunedin should be strong among the front seven on defense but will have to replace playmaker Towns in the secondary.
Audible: "We're excited about our chances this season, especially with Bellamy. He is a dynamic player." — Everett
Did you know? Last month, Bellamy committed to USF, becoming the first county player from the Class of 2009 to pick a school.
