Class 5A, region final | Punta Gorda Charlotte (11-1) vs. Largo (11-1)

When/where: 7:30 tonight. Packers Stadium (Largo) Admission: $7

Winner: Advances to state semifinal Dec. 12 against the winner of Stuart South Fork vs. Fort Lauderdale St. Thomas Aquinas.

How they got here: Charlotte def. Fort Myers 41-7 and Venice 25-21; Largo def. Countryside 42-17 and St. Petersburg 30-0

Need to know: This is the third time the Packers have advanced to the region final in four seasons. Largo has gotten to this point behind an aggressive defense that has given up 100 points in 12 games (counting playoffs). Last week, Charlotte avenged its only loss of the season by knocking off previously undefeated Venice. The Tarpons have a strong running game, led by Mike Bellamy and Troy McClary.
