TAMPA — Berkeley Prep looked ready to kick off the season next Friday.
The Buccaneers opened the scoring on their first series on Julian Crockett's 13-yard run. Then on the ensuing kickoff, Northside Christian's Chris Culbreth went 95 yards to tie the score.
But Crockett was just getting started. He gave Berkeley a 14-7 lead with an 11-yard run and dashed for two more scores of 50 and 79 yards, totaling 210 on the night.
"I saw and hit all the holes. I just had a feel for it tonight," he said.
Kevin Laddon added a 23-yard field goal just before halftime and Reggie Barnes opened the third quarter with an 82-yard kickoff return for a 37-12 Bucs lead. Richard Klein also tallied 48 yards and one touchdown in the win. "I'm proud of the way we competed tonight," Berkeley coach Dominick Ciao said. "We all played hard, and that was the most important thing."
