Clearwater defensive lineman Kane Taylor was arrested Tuesday afternoon by Clearwater Police and charged with armed burglary, robbery with a deadly weapon or firearm, aggravated battery with a deadly weapon and grand theft.

The bond for the felony charges is $312,000. The 18-year-old will await trial.

Taylor was one of the top prospects in the country. He was rated a three-star recruit by 247 Sports and had 15 offers from colleges, including Alabama, Louisville, Michigan and Miami. Most recruiting services predicted he would eventually commit to Marshall.

The 6-foot-4, 250-pound senior was academically ineligible this past spring but boosted his GPA in order to play and helped the Tornadoes go undefeated in the regular season for the first time since 1970, win their second straight district title and advance to the region semifinals.
