Football: Alonso 25, Gaither 14

TAMPA — Alonso rode an early lead to a 25-14 defeat of Gaither on Friday night. The Ravens' defense stepped up early when Derrick Nealy intercepted Gaither quarterback Alex McGough's first pass and returned it for a 31-yard touchdown. Andrew Bagli added to the Ravens' lead with a pair of field goals in the first quarter, the first for 34 yards and another for 31. In the second quarter, Cowboys quarterback Shug Oyengunle replaced McGough and he found Vu Le for a 21-yard touchdown.

Ish Witter had 25 carries and 121 yards rushing in the win.

"I used to coach at Gaither; I have some friends over there still and we have been having some banter back and forth," Alonso coach Brian Emanuel said. "I told them they needed to get ready for Ish Witter, and Coach said, 'Who is Ish Witter?' We made sure we let them know who he was tonight."
