Football: Alonso 28, Spoto 8

RIVERVIEW — Alonso got big plays from running back Ishmael Witter resulting in two touchdowns to pad a lead it never forfeited in a victory over Spoto.

Spoto quarterback Nick Addison, who also played kicker, safety and returned kicks, put a few points on the board in the fourth quarter.

A brief but heavy rain before the game affected both teams, who put up fewer than 50 total yards combined. On the first play of the second quarter the Ravens' Tyler Gause booted a 30-yard field goal. Witter added another six points after a 36-yard scramble.

Addison engineered a two-minute drill. He completed five of his next six tosses but bad snaps hindered the offense. A sack by Anthony Chickillo ended the drive and the half. Two second-half interceptions, one for a touchdown, crushed the Spartans' comeback.
