Football: Armwood 35, Strawberry Crest 18

DOVER — Strawberry Crest trailed by just one score in the fourth quarter, but Armwood pulled away to win 35-18.

"We have a young group that had some selfish penalties," Armwood coach Sean Callahan said. "But that's not to take anything away from (the Chargers). They've done a great job with this program."

Armwood beat Strawberry Crest 80-0 last season. But coach John Kelly wasn't interested in moral victories. "We had the ball and were down seven with seven minutes to play," he said. "We had an opportunity but didn't get it done."

Chris Perez's 2-yard TD run cut the Armwood lead to 25-18. The Chargers forced a three-and-out but were sacked twice and forced to punt. Three plays later, the Hawks' Nehemiah Miguel ran 20 yards for a TD.
