Football: Berkeley Prep 31, Indian Rocks Christian 28

TAMPA — Indian Rocks Christian (2-5) was down 28-7 midway through the third quarter against Berkeley Prep, but rallied to get within 28-21 with 9:26 left. Theo Anderson and Zeke McGaughy scored rushing touchdowns on back-to-back drives to get the Golden Eagles within striking distance, then Jeffrey Guttentag's 37 yard field goal gave the Buccaneers (5-3) a 31-21 lead. IRC quarterback Garrett Ross-Johnson's 1-yard touchdown sneak cut the lead to 31-28 with 2:03 left, but Berkeley Prep held on to win by the same score.

Key drive: Berkeley Prep put together a 13-play, 44-yard drive to set up the field goal that gave the Bucs a 31-21 lead. That drive ticked 5:18 off the clock.

Stars of the game: Berkeley Prep freshman running back Jakob Hines, subbing for Gordon Stetson who was out for the game, carried 38 times for 136 yards and two touchdowns. Buccaneers wide receiver Jacob Mathis had a 5-yard rushing touchdown and a 94-yard kickoff return touchdown. He also hauled in five passes for 59 yards.

Stats of the game: Between Anderson and McGaughy, Indian Rocks Christian amassed 321 yards on the ground. Anderson ran for 95 yards and two scores on 14 carries and McGaughy ran for 226 yards and a score on 18 carries. McGaughy had the play of the game when he ran down the left sideline en route to a 74-yard gain.
