Football: Blake 54, Leto 0

TAMPA — Blake dominated from start to finish in earning its first victory in a 54-0 shutout of Leto on Monday night in a 6A-8 game.

Early on, it was Kristian Robinson and Ricardo Brown who entertained the home crowd. On Blake's third offensive play, Robinson hooked up with Brown down the sideline for a 34-yard score. After a Leto fumble deep in its territory the tandem did it again, this time from 17 yards out.

From there, the ground game and Corey Bennett took over. The junior led the way for the Yellow Jackets (1-2), carrying 21 times for 197 yards and four scores. In all, Bennett hit pay dirt from 3, 19, 8 and 24 yards. His final score was a thing of beauty as he outjuked just about the entire Falcon defense in turning a potential loss on the play into a highlight reel 24-yard scoring run.

"It was important to get a win under our belts," Blake coach Darryl Gordon said. "It should help lead us to better things down the road."

Leto (0-2) crossed midfield only once, turned the ball over six times and failed to complete a pass. Blake outgained Leto 382-66. The teams combined for 10 total turnovers.
