Football: Boca Ciega 46, Osceola 13

OSCEOLA — Boca Ciega (4-2, 3-1 in Class 6A, District 9) invaded Homecoming at Osceola (0-7, 0-4). The Pirates were in control from the beginning Friday night. After recovering an onside kick to start the game, Boca Ciega quarterback Osby Green scrambled into the end zone for the team's first score. Green completed 15-of-19 attempts and a touchdown, but did throw one interception and lose a fumble. The Pirates relied on a balanced offensive attack in the 46-13 victory.

Key drive: Starting from their own 15-yard line, the Pirates ran 15 plays (eight run, seven pass) en route to their second score of the game. The drive was capped by junior running back Dsoni Ross crossing the goal line from 1 yard out. After a two-point conversion, the Pirates led 14-0. They took a 20-7 lead into halftime.

Key players: Running back David Dawson racked up 134 yards rushing and two touchdowns for Boca Ciega. Wide receiver Sam Thompson had six receptions and a punt return touchdown. Seniors Landrick Johnson, Jonathon Byrd and Wayne Williams were dominant on the defensive front for the Pirates. … The Warriors went with a run-first approach and, despite the numerous attempts by Jaden Celeste, Alex Muehleck, and Seth Boling, came up short on the ground.
