Football: Canterbury 49, Santa Fe Catholic 7

LAKELAND — Canterbury struck early with a pair of first-quarter touchdown runs and rode that momentum to a 49-7 Class B, District 5 win over Santa Fe Catholic.

The Canterbury running tandem of Brent O'Neal and James Goodwin combined for 261 yards and five touchdowns as the Crusaders took a 36-7 halftime lead.

"We were down to 16 kids (dressed out), so I was nervous about our depth," coach Stephen Dudley said. "We were able to keep it together, and our offensive line created some holes."

Goodwin finished with 13 carries for 137 yards and two touchdowns. O'Neal had 124 yards and three TDs on 10 carries.

The Crusaders (4-3, 1-2) defense kept B.J. Knauf and the Hawks' offense bottled up, limiting Santa Fe to 80 rushing yards and 123 yards total.
