Football: Chamberlain 27, Bloomingdale 13

VALRICO — Xavier Johnson broke the 100-yard threshold in Chamberlain's season-opening, 27-13 win against Bloomingdale on Saturday.

Bloomingdale opened the scoring in the first quarter when Christian Bennett recovered a blocked punt for a touchdown. The Bulls' special teams would strike again as Alex Ragland returned a kickoff 92 yards for a score.

But the Chiefs' stifling defense was too much for the Bulls.

On the other side, Johnson was electric, scoring all four touchdowns. Every goal-line push Johnson made was resulted in a score.

"We need to improve everywhere," Chiefs coach D.J. Mayo said. "After the bye, we'll get four starters back. I'm feeling good."
