Football: Dunedin 17, Middleton 7

DUNEDIN — Falcons senior Mack Benson threw two touchdowns and was crowned homecoming king Friday as Dunedin downed Middleton 17-7.

Benson's key moment turned out to be a most unlikely play, a late-game interception. Junior cornerback Amp Carswell picked off Benson with less than 7 minutes left and the Tigers down a touchdown. On fourth and 15, an incomplete pass would've forced Dunedin to turn over the ball on downs at the Middleton 20. Instead, the interception pinned the Tigers at their own 5.

Two plays later, Simeon Grant tried to escape an end zone sack but instead was penalized for intentional grounding, giving Dunedin a safety.

Grant threw his touchdown pass early in the fourth quarter to James Hambrick after Jordan Algere's kickoff return to the 28.
