Football: Durant 29, Alonso 0

PLANT CITY — Led by two 100-yard rushers, Durant overcame a sluggish first half and ran away from Alonso 29-0.

Jamarlon Hamilton ran for 122 yards and two touchdowns and Chris Atkins ran for 101 yards and a TD to pace the Cougars' attack. After registering four first downs in the first half, the Cougars used ball control in the second half, rushing 26 times with no passes.

Meanwhile, the defense stopped Ravens drives that ended in Cougar territory to end the first half and begin the second.

"Our philosophy in the second half was stay away from penalties, tackle better, and pound the football," Durant coach Mike Gottman said. "That score is a little deceiving. … We came at them with some pressure and we got stops when we needed them."
