Trailing by two in the fourth quarter, Eagles quarterback Pete DiNovo engineered a winning drive that was capped by a 12-yard scoring pass to Chris DePaolo. DiNovo then connected with Artavis Scott on a two-point conversion for visiting East Lake.
DiNovo kept East Lake (4-2, 1-0) in the game by running for two touchdowns, and Elijah Thomas and Devin Abraham each recorded interceptions.
"We had a tough start because of the accident on I-75," East Lake coach Bob Hudson said. "We didn't get there until 7:10 and had a quick warmup. But I thought the kids battled through that and played well."
