EAST LAKE — East Lake (7-2, 3-1) clinched the runnerup spot in Class 5A, District 8 Friday night.

East Lake opened scoring in the first quarter, as quarterback Pete Dinovo threw the first of his three touchdowns, a 14-yard strike to Stephen Buric.

East Lake later capped off a 48-yard drive with Dinovo's second touchdown, a 15-yarder to Tyler Higbee. Higbee finished the night with five catches for 67 yards.

The Eagles scored once more to end the half, when Dinovo hooked up with Buric on a 9-yard touchdown.

With 36 seconds left in the third quarter, Dunedin (2-6, 1-2) finally got on the board after a fumble by East Lake. The Falcons recovered on the East Lake 10-yard line. And on the next play, Sharrod Harriel ran into the end zone.
