Football: East Lake 38, Sarasota 21

EAST LAKE — East Lake defeated Sarasota 38-21 behind Pete DiNovo and Artavis Scott. DiNovo completed 15 of 19 passes for 232 yards and three touchdowns. Scott had seven receptions for 167 yards and two TDs and also added 33 yards on the ground.

East Lake led 7-0 in the first quarter when Scott sacked Sarasota's Hunter Dewitt and forced a fumble that was picked up and returned 61 yards for a score by George Campbell. In the middle of the second quarter DiNovo hit Scott for a 51-yard touchdown and a 21-0 lead at halftime.

East Lake answered the first of two receiving touchdowns by Sarasota's Shawn Bane Jr. with Scott's 60-yard TD catch. The Eagles answered Bane's second TD with a 54-yard kickoff return for a score by Campbell.
