Football: Gaither 17, Freedom 10

TAMPA — Gaither scored two touchdowns in the last two minutes of the first half and went on to beat visiting Freedom 17-10.

Sophomore quarterback Shug Oyegunle scored on a 27-yard touchdown run, then just over a minute later he hit Josh Bultron for a 33-yard score and a 14-0 lead.

"They started doing some things differently on defense in the second quarter that we were able to take advantage of," Gaither coach Mark Kantor said. "It wasn't the best game, but it was a good win for us to get to 2-2. I told the boys to just keep at it, and they did."

In the second half, the Patriots (1-3) scored on a 21-yard touchdown pass from Dominic Marino to Robert Lohnes. After Gaither added a field goal, the Patriots did the same but failed to recover their onside kick attempt with a less than two minutes left.
