ST. PETERSBURG — Gibbs broke a tie on a 10-yard touchdown pass from Devontae White to Devontay Williams in the final three seconds to defeat Pinellas Park.
The Gladiators (2-6, 1-2) were led by junior White and senior running back Damond Rucker. White was 10 of 21 passing for 236 yards and five touchdowns. Rucker had seven rushes for 97 yards including a 25-yard run that helped set up the winning touchdown. Junior defensive back Gary Simon had an interception that started the winning drive.
Senior running back Michael Smith led the Patriots (4-4, 1-2) with 17 rushes for 49 yards and two touchdowns. His 2-point conversion tied the score in the beginning of the fourth quarter.
"We fought hard through all adversity to come out with a victory," Gladiators coach Donnie Abraham said.
