LARGO — Bradenton Christian turned on the offense late, but penalties were a killer as the Panthers fell 20-13 to Indian Rocks Christian on Friday.
Sinclair Laskett racked up 32 of his 80 total yards in the final quarter, setting up a late 12-yard touchdown run from John Giardina. But despite getting the ball to the IRC 9 on a first and goal with more than four minutes to go, Bradenton couldn't cross the end zone.
Zeke McGaughy had 102 yards and scored a touchdown for the Golden Eagles (2-1). Damian King had 64 yards on three carries, including a 70-yard dash at the end of the third quarter that set up the Eagles' final touchdown.
IRC kicker Jhett Urie went down with a lower back injury in the fourth quarter, but gave a thumbs up to the crowd before he was loaded into an ambulance.
