ST. PETERSBURG — A stout defense and the usual playmakers gave Lakewood a 54-3 win over Middleton on Friday.
Tracy Johnson had a strong first half, completing 6-of-10 for 79 yards and two touchdowns. Shaquill Griffin returned a kickoff 82 yards for a touchdown as Lakewood went up 6-3 in the first quarter and never looked backed.

To open the third, Marquez Valdes returned the kickoff 96 yards, and Zamarie Johnson added 7-yard touchdown. Laterian Latimer, who rushed for 92 yards on nine carries, broke off a 68-yard run to push the lead to 41-3. The Spartans added two more scores.
