LITHIA — Newsome's relentless run attack overpowered Blake, giving the Wolves a 35-14 win on homecoming.
Newsome's Royce Easley had a 55-yard touchdown run on the first play of the game.
Senior receiver Joe Worth had over 90 yards in the first half before being crowned homecoming king. His brother, sophomore Will Worth, had a strong night. Running back Conner Powers was the workhorse, providing 125 yards and a touchdown.
Blake tried a two-quarterback approach to the second half. Zain Gilmore relieved starter Eugene Davenport. The two connected for a 60-yard touchdown, which sparked the Yellow Jackets, but it was not enough for a comeback.
Despite an overwhelming win, the Wolves gave up nearly 100 penalty yards and lost three fumbles. Their defense picked off Gilmore once.
