Football: Palm Harbor U. 35, Sarasota Riverview 9

SARASOTA — Palm Harbor U. ended a two-game skid by steamrolling Sarasota Riverview in its district opener.

"It means a lot to win the first district game," said the Hurricanes' Jonah Fiskaa, who ran for 100 yards. "We pounded the football."

Fiskaa, Quentin Cummings and Connor Dorris, with help from the offensive line, combined to rush for 257 yards.

"The big guys don't get a lot of pub," coach Matt LePain said. "But when you play a game like this, you have to give it to them."

The Rams took a 6-0 lead when Justin Austin took the opening kickoff 65 yards to set up Karan Higdon's 22-yard run. But the Hurricanes allowed only 116 yards of offense.

PHU took the lead in the second quarter on Dorris' 1-yard run and Brevet Killet's 28-yard pass to Jacob Martinez.
