Football: River Ridge 26, Hudson 13

HUDSON — Hudson came into its senior night Friday looking for win No. 1, but River Ridge had other plans, prevailing 26-13.

Justin Haystrand started the game rushing for a 25-yard touchdown. After River Ridge missed its extra point, Hudson was determined to even the score.

Junior halfback Hayden Moyer capped a five-play drive by rushing in for a touchdown from 2 yards out. The Cobras tacked on the extra point to take a 7-6 lead.

The teams battled back and forth with the defense stepping up for both.

After the half, Cody Beck hit Gary Myrick for an 80-yard yard score to give Hudson a 13-6 lead.

River Ridge made sure that was the Cobras' last score.

Fullback Austin Schwarz got things started for the Knights, rushing from 2 yards out to pull River Ridge within one. Josh Maisel then threw a 10-yard touchdown to Brandon Nazzario to put the Knights ahead 19-13.

The Knights defense didn't let up, holding Hudson scoreless the rest of the way.

The Knights have won two in a row after dropping their first four.

"It's confidence," coach Tim Stevens said. "As soon as we win one, we're gonna win a lot."
