Football: Shorecrest 42, Bishop McLaughlin 15

ST. PETERSBURG — Senior tailback Aaren Johnson rushed for 152 yards and three touchdowns in the second half, as Shorecrest (5-2) knocked off Bishop McLaughlin 42-15 Friday night.

Johnson was partnered by senior Garrett Schulte on the ground. The two combined for 31 carries, 328 rushing yards and four touchdowns.

The Chargers opened scoring with a 15-yard touchdown pass from Travis Dugan to Jake Kohler. Dugan, who finished 6-of-12 passing for 56 yards, would find Kohler again in the second half for a TD.

With the score 7-0, the Hurricanes (4-3) used an 83-yard kickoff from senior Austin Meyers to set up a score. Fullback Zack Lockhart punched in a 3-yard touchdown. They added a field goal on their next possession for their only lead of the game, 9-7.

Shorecrest pulled away in the second half, scoring a touchdown on each of its first three possessions. The Chargers also sacked RJ Perciavalle five times.
