Football: Spoto 21, Blake 6

TAMPA — Spoto came out guns blazing in the second half Friday, defeating Blake 21-6. Senior receiver Bryan Barr caught two touchdowns to put away the Yellow Jackets. Barr finished with four catches for 47 yards, including a 10-yard touchdown grab on a halfback pass from sophomore Kevin Hobley that put the Spartans (2-4, 2-3) up 14-6.

"I think the quarterback had a little extra time because our offensive line got it on track," Barr said.

The only Blake touchdown came on the opening kickoff when senior Desmond Gaines returned the ball 81 yards. The Yellow Jackets (2-5, 1-5) never returned to the end zone, as the Spartans defense continually broke through the line en route to four sacks. Linebacker Rafael Morales took charge, helping hold Blake to two second-half first downs.
