Football: Spoto 56, Blake 8

RIVERVIEW — Spoto's air attack soared over Blake's defense early, leading to a dominant win in a district game.

The Spoto offense, under senior quarterback Nick Addison, tallied impressive numbers in the first half. Addison found favorite target Tyron Baker eight times for more than 200 yards and four touchdowns before taking a seat for most of the second half.

Spoto's Danny Taylor added a highlight, a touchdown reception from Addison who evaded a host of Yellow Jacket defenders to make the pass.

Spoto's blitzing defenders held Blake to minus-8 yards in the first half and fewer than 100 for the game.

Blake's score came on a 50-yard reception and run by Marcus Carter, who rebounded after a hard hit on the previous play.

    Footballpreps

Lawrance Toafili was a bit of a secret when the season started. The Pinellas Park High sophomore began last year on the junior varsity and was expected to stay there the entire season. But injuries to varsity players forced his promotion for the final five games.

“At first I was kind of nervous,” Toafili said of playing varsity. “But as I started to fit in more … I started to feel more confident.”
