HUDSON — Quarterback Tyler Mahla and Springstead's rushing attack dominated Fivay 34-0 in Friday's district matchup.
On the opening drive for the Eagles, they capped off their nine-play drive with a 33-yard scamper by Robert Holdway. Springstead's defense then forced consecutive three-and-outs to give their offense every opportunity to get on the scoreboard again.
The Tyler trio made the score 14-0 when quarterback (Tyler) Mahla, connected with Tyler Anderson from 5 yards out and Tyler Toth nailed the extra point.
Eagles running back Daniel Wright added a rushing touchdown from 1 yard out with four minutes left in the first half. After the Falcons (2-3, 0-1) were forced into yet another three-an-out, punt returner Latavious Hannah juked a bunch of tacklers before returning it all the way 71 yards for the 28-0 lead going into halftime.
Things slowed down in the second half. Mahla capped scoring with a rushing touchdown from 12 yards out. He finished the night with 122 yards on the ground, extending his season total to 652 yards and eight touchdowns.
Fivay will remain at home next week to take on Gulf; Springstead (5-1, 2-0) hosts Central.
