Football: St. Petersburg Catholic 42, Montverde Academy 9

ST. PETERSBURG — The Barons ran for 288 yards to snap a four-game losing streak.

Adrian Snead put the Barons up 7-0 with a 17-yard run in the first quarter. Tony Jones made it 14-3 in the second with a 14-yard score. Both added touchdowns for a 28-3 halftime lead.

Jones, who finished with 136 yards on 13 carries, also scored on a 47-yard catch-and-run. Jack Sheehan was 6-of-8 for 129 yards and two touchdowns.

SPC was just as dominant on defense, allowing 119 yards on 21 carries (86 on one play).

Coach Steve Dudley said his players brought an intensity to practice they hadn't had in several weeks.

"We're down some major players," he Dudley. "It's good to see these young guys overcome adversity."
