Football: Tampa Bay Tech 36, Wharton 34

TAMPA — Tampa Bay Tech's offense ran up and down the field on Wharton's defense for most of Friday's game. But when the contest was on the line, the Titans turned to trickery. A fake punt helped cement a 36-34 Class 5A, District 7 victory. The win earned the Titans (6-3, 3-0) a district title.

Wharton (3-6, 1-2) scored on two David Larry runs. The Titans' score came on a 2-yard run by Timothy Stewart. But the Wildcats struck back before halftime when quarterback Chase Litton found Nyere Thompson on a 14-yard pass.

The Titans were up by two with a minute left in the game. Trying to run out the clock, TBT was stopped on three straight plays. On fourth and 3 and in punt formation, TBT faked it and ran 6 yards for the first down.

    It's Andy's time.

    And it's about time.

Former Lightning captain Dave Andreychuk has been elected to the Hockey Hall of Fame. He had been eligible since 2009, a ridiculously long wait for someone who scored 640 goals, including a record 274 on the power play.
