Hillsborough High defensive end Zachary Carter, a four-star recruit according to 247Sports, announced via Twitter on Friday that he is committing to his longtime dream school, Florida.
The 6-foot-4, 250-pound rising senior, tabbed the top area recruit in the class of 2017 by the Tampa Bay Times, chose the Gators over Clemson.
He joins two other local linemen — Pinellas Park's Jordon Scott and Largo's Jaquaze Sorrells — as a UF pledge.
Carter has been consistent as a starter. He tallied 73 tackles and three sacks as a sophomore, then followed that up with 76 tackles and 5.5 sacks last season.
