Friday's football matchups

All games at 7:30 unless noted.

St. Petersburg (1-0) at Lakewood (1-0): The Green Devils could be short-handed after last week's scuffle with East Lake. Meanwhile, the Spartans' Jermeil Douse will make his debut at quarterback.

Bryan Burns' pick: Lakewood

Keith Niebuhr's pick: Lakewood

Bob Putnam's pick: Lakewood

East Lake (0-1) at Largo (1-0): The Eagles played tough in last week's loss to St. Petersburg. Now, East Lake gets another test against Largo, which looked sharp in its season-opening victory over Dunedin.

Dunedin (0-1) at Tarpon Springs (1-0): The Falcons' young offensive line will have to come together quickly to hold off an aggressive Spongers' defensive line, led by Brodrick Lee.

Burns: Tarpon

Niebuhr: Tarpon

Putnam: Tarpon

Gibbs (0-1) at Countryside (1-0): The Cougars' secondary will try to bounce back against the pass-oriented Gladiators. On the other side of the ball, watch for Countryside running back Alton Taylor to have a big game.

Osceola (0-1) at Clearwater (1-0): The Tornadoes, led by standout running back/linebacker Jeremiah George, have a good shot at remaining undefeated against the struggling Warriors.

Putnam: Clearwater

St. Petersburg Catholic (0-1) at Northside Christian (1-0): The Barons had a furious rally that fell short against Berkeley Prep. Expect that momentum to carry over this week against the Mustangs.

Burns: SPC

Niebuhr: SPC

Putnam: SPC

Lakeland Christian (0-0) at Clearwater Central Catholic (1-0): The Marauders have one of the county's most underrated players in Eric Miller, a quarterback who is dangerous as a runner or passer.

Burns: CCC

Niebuhr: CCC

Putnam: CCC

Seminole (0-1) at Dixie Hollins (0-1): Both teams should be amped for this one considering it is their best shot at a victory for a while.
