Preseason football: Admiral Farragut 48, St. Stephens 8

ST. PETERSBURG — Admiral Farragut used its speed to easily beat St. Stephens.

Farragut scored on its first possession, capped by Toddrick Macon's 2-yard run. Later in the quarter, Rashawn Jenkins added a 55-yard scoring run.

In the second quarter, the Blue Jackets continued using their potent ground game and added some precision passing.

Jenkins connected with Robert Goddard on a 15-yard touchdown pass to go up 21-0. Freshman running back Cortavious Givens, who led the team in rushing with 109 yards and a touchdown on five carries, scored on a 38-yard run — Jenkins added a two-point conversion run — to push Admiral Farragut's lead to 29-0. Macon gashed the Falcons defense for another 15-yard score as AFA led 36-0 at the half.

The Falcons did not cross midfield until late in the half, attempting 50 passes on the night.

AFA coach Chris Miller said, "We wanted to come out and be a physical team tonight, and we accomplished that."
