TAMPA — Bloomingdale started off fast by scoring two touchdowns — one by Doug Sandberg and another on a pass by sophomore quarterback Isaiah Mcintyre — and put the game away with a decisive second half to beat Freedom 30-14 in a preseason classic Friday.
Freedom rallied from a 14-0 deficit with a short second-quarter touchdown run by Calvin Bido-Vega, and quarterback D.J. Washington kept it on the conversion run to make it 14-8 at halftime.
In the third quarter, Bido-Vega had a 55-yard touchdown run to tie the score, but Bloomingdale closed out the game with the final 16 points.
Freedom running back Andre Folkes rushed for more than 150 yards, 135 of those coming in the first half.
