Preseason football: Chamberlain 14, East Bay 11

TAMPA — Second-year coach Richard "Cam" Jones had hoped for a "super aggressive" up-tempo offense. And Chamberlain showcased just how quick and combative its attack is. Without many huddles, and with several key defensive stops, the Chiefs were able to outlast the defending district 7A-8 champion Indians.

Drive of the game: After Seth Jordan left early in the first quarter with what Jones said was a tweaked knee, sophomore Reggie Wester stepped up. While most of his contribution was through the air, he was able to break away in the third quarter on a scramble up the middle after faking the handoff. His 20 yards took the Chiefs to the 3, and junior receiver Eric Gravely's first catch of the night capped the drive to give Chamberlain its final score.

Play of the game: With time winding down, East Bay was forced to resort to its passing offense, despite a 1-for-11 performance with negative 9 yards. After missing two chances to complete a pass, junior quarterback Jordan Anderson tried to find an open teammate on an in route toward the middle of the field. Chamberlain junior linebacker Daniel Martinez intercepted.

Star of the game: Wester fulfilled a last-minute leadership role for nearly the entire game, generating almost 100 yards of passing offense with only one interception.
