Preseason football: Clearwater Central Catholic 48, Dixie Hollins 32

ST. PETERSBURG — Clearwater Central Catholic piled up 362 yards rushing in three quarters of varsity play en route to a 48-32 victory over Dixie Hollins.

"We knew we had guys who could pound the ball," CCC coach John Davis said. "We have gotten better up front, and our guys did a good job."

Brandon Bell scored from 35 yards on the first play from scrimmage to put Dixie Hollins up 7-0. CCC answered on the next play as Justin Goodloe broke free for a 65-yarder.

Goodloe led the Marauders with 182 yards rushing, 34 yards receiving and three touchdowns. Eric Davis added 90 yards and a score while DiQuan Walker ran for 51 yards and a touchdown.

The Rebels wasted no time retaking the lead as Dana Harrington's pass to Andy Haines set up Dre Jackson's 1-yard run. Jackson led the Rebels with 63 yards and two touchdowns while Haines caught three passes for 68 yards.

"I really liked our tempo on offense," Dixie coach Mike Morey said. "It was good to see where we stood. They were just more physical than us, and we have to tackle better on defense."
